Osprey real time LLL (low light level) true real color night vision security camera vastly outperforms any existing low light color technology like CMOS, Scmos, CCD, EMCCD and traditional military grade intensified technologies & unlike other low light technologies, the Osprey unit is fully automatic and requires no user interaction for different light/scene environments, the camera automatically & instantly, precisely adjusts to give you the cleanest, sharpest image. The unit is a sealed rugged, heavy duty modular all weather design.

Traditional low light level LLL color night vision cameras and conventional ULL sensors image have presentable image quality when there is ample light sources available or a full moon. True real color low light lux imagers require much more powerful passive sensors that can produce day like images in the darkest of nights such as moonless cloudy nights. The Osprey true real time high definition, high sensitivity color low light night vision Cmos sensor offer day like bright defined images with exceptionally low noise.

These parameters make the Osprey ultra sensitive color night vision low light sensor ideal for military night vision imaging, low light operations, digital night vision goggles, night vision color image fusion, digital weapons mounted, uav, uas, drone and a wide array of military, commercial, industrial, medical & scientific imaging color low light applications.

The Osprey color low light camera is purely digital and unlike analog i2 image intensifiers can be used 24/7 day or night uninterrupted, as well as sustaining no damage at all if brought into bright light sources. Nightvision image intensifiers work good at night, they are an old analog technology that has a lifespan and can get damaged severely if pointed at high light sources.

The Video Above illustrates the ospreys night time capabilities (The general area is the same as the Daytime video) but filmed at Midnight in Southern Utah

The Osprey is Ideal for many uses other than security and surveillance, such as medical, bio-imaging,
TV, nature/wildlife, documentary & cinema footage, astrophotography, underwater imaging, forensics,
R&D, Scientific, and a wide array of commercial and industrial applications.

The Osprey LLL Color night vision system is available with thermal IR image fusion, thermal Flir technology blended with the high resolution, high sensitivity Osprey image to produce the ultimate night vision scene!

The Osprey Reconnaissance Day/Night vision security imager can be used standalone and
complimentary to FLIR thermal IR infrared imaging, MWIR, LWIR, SWIR, I2, CMOS,
CCD, NVG’s and all existing military/defense/space EOIR Imaging systems.

Osprey low light color night vision sensor has extremely large pixel pitch cells for high light gathering
capabilities and is very sensitive in the IR spectra region. The high 5 Million equivalent ISO
system has outstanding low lux capabilities with a whopping 85,000x luminance gain.

The High definition sensor works in the daytime and incorporates high grade,
coated, IR corrected lenses. The Osprey low light Color night vision sensor produces high definition color imagery
even at less than 1 millilux low light levels.

Osprey Unit can be retrofitted into pan tilt PT and PTZ Multi Sensor systems, and is ideal for UAV/UAS/Drone Marine and tactical combat vehicle DVE imaging system.

The advantages of the Ospreys Color night vision sensor over traditional image intensified technologies is vast, while image intensifiers have very good low light capabilities, There are drawbacks such as burn ins or intensifier damage/degradation with the introduction of intense light sources. If the image intensifier stares at say a headlight of a car for a short amount of time, it gets ‘burned’ or ‘scarred’ forever, this phenomenon will leave the intensifier with a degraded black Spot on the surface which can never be fixed or removed and will always be present in the intensifier. Image intensifiers can not be used in the daytime, this will destroy an intensifier, And of course image intensifiers only produce black and white or green images & do not image over 1000 nanometers or 1 micron. The Osprey is an HD fully digital solid state system where the image tube intensifier is an analog technology.

The SPI Osprey Low Light Level TV LLLTV color night vision sensor will revolutionize military imaging systems and assist military commanders and war fighters in night time operations in hand held, mobile, marine and airborne platforms, the HD low light color sensor will offer a distinct advantage over all currently existing night vision military technologies.

The Solid-state Osprey color low light night vision sensor utilizes specialty video processing on chip and on the filters, as well as advanced electronic vis-nir image enhancement algorithms that allow it to collect an incredible amount of light, and retain full sensitivity without loss of a brilliant color image, furthermore the Osprey BSTFA (Broad Spectrum Thin Film Array) high fidelity, large pixel pitch sensor architecture achieves incredible bright as day, true color imagery at real time full tv frame rates, without image lag and minimal image noise or grain. Osprey can withstand direct sunlight and direct laser hits with no adverse effects.

Low light color cameraX27-low-light-color-night-vision-camera-imager-1024x768X27-Low-light-Color_night-Vision_sensor-camera-1-1024x768Modern day advanced CMOS sensors are increasingly being used in today’s cameras, allowing users to shoot 1080p video and apply complex imaging effects with ease. Traditionally, Ccd sensors have been thought to produce better-looking images with less visual noise and distortion, but they draw more power and provide slower data-throughput speed. The shift to CMOS helps to explain how this technology has evolved dramatically throughout the years…in recent years, attracting the growing number of consumers who want high performance low light on the go. Specialty low light level LLL Cmos is another arena of this technology that is evolving. Large pixel pitch sizes allow the chip to collect ultra extreme amounts of light and translate them photons into a clear clean bright image in very dark night scenes. The x27’s low light color technology utilizes specialty algorithms that allow the sensor to see in extreme low light environments traditionally unseen before. The x27 night vision camera displays true high fidelity color imagery at fast frame rates and in very challenging conditions. Sensor speed by itself may not be something that people can see the great value in, but sensor speed together with specialty processing power allows the x27’s CMOS sensor to realize features that you likely couldn’t do with even the best CCDs the fpa can capture light at very high rates of speed while delivering a real time usable image for many defense/security and surveillance applications. For the most part, CMOS’s comparative benefits lie outside the realm of image quality altogether. Traditionally CMOS chips have been associated with theoretically cheaper manufacturing costs, greater energy efficiency, faster data-throughput speeds, and the fact that the on-sensor circuitry handles some processing tasks before the data comes off each pixel and the sensor itself. Of course, a camera’s image processor also has a lot to do with the final image, and those are becoming more and more powerful, too. Back side illumination of chip technology is another area that allows the chip to output higher performance in low light, the x27’s color night vision detectors bsi backside illumination is yet another aspect that makes it desirable for Imaging at never before seen extreme low light conditions. The x27 ultra extreme low light color night vision complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) integrated circuit (IC) is a vital proven technology. SPI applies its imaging and IC expertise to achieve incredible low light imaging performance to its x27 camera. The x27 is an all solid state alternative to conventional image intensifiers. The x27’s specialty sensor will integrate a low-light CMOS imager with advanced video processing capabilities for image enhancement. This powerful, compact wide dynamic range, very high Light gathering (5 million ISO equivalent) sensor has the capability to achieve unprecedented performance in low-light conditions for night vision and ground-based, space & airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance applications—as well as in life science, microscopy, medical imaging, bio-sensing, astronomy, astrophotography, biofluorescence, and DNA sequencing. Groundbreaking Ultra Extremely sensitive wdr color cameras are changing the low light imaging space, one of the original systems to come out is the Canon ME20F-SH

Exploring Additional X27 Bio Imaging / life science applications which include:

・Protein-protein interaction
・Calcium waves in cell networks and intracellular ion flux
・Real time spinning disk confocal microscopy
・Single molecule imaging with TIRF microscopy
・Fluorescence in-vivo blood cell microscopy
・Gene expression imaging using luminescence

Low light level imaging at night in extreme dark conditions with a un-intensified CMOS sensor requires proper selection and optimization of imager design features. Backside illumination with relatively thick silicon is desireable to collect the photons over the visible and near-infrared spectrum, a large pixel size is desireable for light gathering. The X27 Color low light night vision sensor pays close attention to key factors in imaging such as optics design considerations, maintaining full color fidelity at real time tv refresh rates, readout temporal noise, tight noise distribution, Low Dark shot noise, high modulation transfer function (MTF), fixed pattern noise (FPN) reduction, anti glare, distortion and blooming, rapid imager recovery in complex scenes and extended dynamic range.

What is The Advantage of Osprey Technology?
The OSPREY color night vision sensing technology provides a much more useful alternative to InGaAs based SWIR sensors. The OSPREY is a full spectrum broadband imager. The sensor can visualize electromagnetic energy (light) from 390nm to 1200nm+. This is a huge breakthrough in e-CMOS imaging systems giving the user the ability to simultaneously image the visible, near infrared and SWIR bands in a single sensor system. The OSPREY takes advantage of its 390-700nm wavelength response to provide true color night vision imaging. Blue is blue and red is red. Next the near infrared response of 700nm-900nm provides a huge boost in its color night imaging capabilities. This is the same wavelength that traditional image intensified tube night vision systems operate in. This is due to the tremendous nightglow available in this region. However, tube night vision is a direct view monochrome device that is incapable of reproducing accurate color or being shared with the chain of command. I squared night vision takes advantage of night sky radiance and uses a light amplifier to produce a respectable monochrome image but it cannot image in color and it cannot see into the SWIR range. The OSPREY sensor images the visual spectrum while also imaging the same spectrum as the night vision goggles (700nm-900nm). But, Osprey goes even farther. The ability for the sensor to currently image up to 1200nm opens up the SWIR spectrum to e-CMOS technology for the first time. The Ospreys unique configuration provides the user with a fully digital HD video stream @60hz that encompasses the best of the visible spectrum (accurate color rendition) the best of the near infrared spectrum (night sky radiance 850nm lasers) and the best of the SWIR spectrum (additional night sky radiance, 1064 battlefield laser). The OSPREY is the only technology in the world that can produce full color night vision video in no moon starlight conditions while at the same time imaging lasers and infrared energy all the way to 1200nm. Osprey color night vision device can withstand direct exposure to the sun and quickly recover with no ill effects to the focal plane array. A wide variety not of Medical, scientific, industrial, and commercial applications are realized with the Osprey broadband camera.
What About The MWIR and LWIR Thermal Imaging Sensors?
Thermal imaging in the Medium Wavelength InfraRed and Long Wavelength InfraRed regions has its place. MWIR is typically in the 3-5 micron band and LWIR is usually in the 8-12 micron band. At these farther ends of the Infrared region we are imaging heat energy. This energy is still a part of the electromagnetic spectrum and so it is still light. It behaves very much like visible and SWIR light but with some significant differences. First, while it does reflect and absorb off objects, the infrared energy that we visualize in these regions is typically emitted radiation and not reflected. In the visual spectrum, what we see is almost 100% reflected radiations. Sure, we can look at the sun or a light source and see the emitted energy. But, the colors we see that define our world are all reflected energy. The blue ball is blue because that object absorbs all of the white light from the sun and rejects the blue light to our eyes. Thermal imaging sees the ball for what it truly is. It sees the energy that ball is emitting. So, while thermal imaging can provide valuable hidden information, it can never provide lifelike imaging and true accurate color rendition. Thermal imaging is also incapable of imaging through glass, water or water-based obscurants. The energy just bounces off. If you take a LWIR thermal imager and look at a clear glass window, you would see yourself as if looking into a visible mirror. An MWIR thermal camera will have some penetration through glass since it is imaging closer to the visible spectrum, but largely the glass is still effectively a mirror. SWIR imagers do a much better job through glass but they are still not imaging in the visible spectrum. The OSPREY color night vision can image through glass or water in the same way that our eyes are capable of seeing through these objects. Not only that, the OSPREY can do it in color and in pitch-black conditions. However, thermal imaging should not be discarded. On the contrary, it is an extremely useful technology that helps us see the unseen. Thermal imaging is the perfect adjunct system to compliment the OSPREY technology. A fused system has been demonstrated that combines the best of thermal imaging with the color night vision advantage of the OSPREY with incredible results. The latest OSPREY color night vision model provides for either clip on thermal imager use or direct pixel fusion of remote thermal assets. By covering 390nm-1200nm and either 3-5 microns or 8-12 microns in a single system you have in effect the ultimate day night imaging system that covers 99.9% of all requirements.
Conclusion
Multi spectral sensors are the future of augmented imaging technology. Wideband sensors are replacing the single waveband sensors of the past (visual, IR, I2, SWIR, LWIR). The e-CMOS sensor technology of the OSPREY is showing the way to a fully integrated sensor platform. Image intensified systems and SWIR cameras are largely obsolete as night vision technologies. The tube technology has been surpassed in performance by the OSPREY e-CMOS and is a monochrome direct view dead end. Adding a SWIR camera that sees in the 1550nm wavelength becomes a very expensive proposition to simply visualize a laser. InGaAs SWIR technology does have its place in the telecom industry and is a very potent tool for fiber optics. But in the world of night vision it has little practical use when compared to color night vision e-CMOS technology in the OSPREY. The technology is being pushed further and further. Future OSPREY systems promise to incorporate the SWIR band to 1550nm and beyond. The goal of a single sensor solution is here now. One Sensor that provides color night vision, near infrared boost and SWIR response is the heart of the OSPREY. True brain friendly day night imaging is now a reality. So the question is not “why choose SWIR”? The question is “why choose a single wavelength sensor system?” The answer is simple. Choose the OSPREY and get the advantage of all the wavelengths that matter.
